Eco Friendly Bathroom Tips

Renovated glass shower.

Never in the history of the universe has there been a better time to renovate your bathroom in an eco-friendly way. The common house bathroom may not account for a large area of the home, but it certainly is a big part of waste production. Given the amount of waste generated by the common household bathroom, it could prove itself an advantageous endeavour to limit the waste that you produce. It could prevent a negative impact on the environment, and it could also help reduce the impact on your wallet each month. There are some easy, common sense things that you can do to improve the eco-footprint of your bathroom. What are these simple steps, you may be wondering?

Step 1 is to treat yourself to some eco-friendly bath products. From towels and toilet paper to shampoo and conditioner, there are a multitude of products available on the market place that forego the toxins and chemicals found in everyday bathroom products in favor of a more sustainable and eco-friendly solution. Step 2 is to install some motion sensor faucets. How many times per week do you just stand there brushing your teeth while earth’s precious supply of fresh water slips down your drain because you don’t feel like turning it off? Way too many! That’s why you need a motion sensor faucet. On when you need it, off when you don’t. Easy.

The next step is to install a low-flow shower head. You’re only supposed to be in the shower for 5 minutes, but let’s face it…you’re standing around thinking of the perfect thing you could’ve said to win that argument from earlier in the day and you’ve lost track of time. You might as well be showering with Fiji water at that point. It all adds up. So get a low-flow shower head and cut your water usage in the shower by 50% or more.

Tip number 1! Time for a low-flow toilet. This is probably the most expensive item on the list but it’s worth it! According to one study, 27% of the water you use in your household is used by your toilets. Toilet technology has improved significantly since the days of old, and you could be wasting earths precious resources with every flush if you’re not using a low-flow toilet.

That’s the list. Now you know a few small tricks to employ around your bathroom that will keep the earth green a little longer. Questions? Send us an email or give us a call, we’d be happy to help.
